PROFESSIONAL experience

The Swan Center for Advocacy & Research, Inc. Stockbridge, GA Founder

• Georgia-based 501(c)(3) that prioritizes and supports Black survivors of violence

• Provide support through referral, crisis advocacy and the dispensing of hardship funds

• Provide training utilizing the Anti-Oppressive Advocacy ™ framework to support white anti-violence professionals in interrogating their internalized anti-Blackness

•Created the nation’s first appreciation week for anti-violence professionals

Emory University, Atlanta, GA   - Director, The Office of Respect

  • Developed and executed a two-year strategic plan to elevate the Respect Program to an anti-oppressive office that prioritizes the university’s climate results to reduce all forms of violence and increase violence prevention education across the enterprise.

  • Secured nearly $100,000 in donation funding for RespectCon, the university’s nationally-awarded anti-violence conference

Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN    Prevention Educator/Victim Resource Specialist

  • Lead provider of on-call response, crisis intervention, on-going case management and resource referral as a private resource of power-based personal violence intervention to the entire Vanderbilt working and living community.

  • Developed internal Standards of Care ( forms, resources, safety planning, etc. ) when working with impacted community members to minimize on-going violence.

  • Provided programmatic outreach and training on the prevention of power-based personal violence through perspectives including: intersections of gender, race, sexual orientation, individual and cultural identity

  • Co-developed a research investigation evaluating Vanderbilt University’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI) community’s expectations for accessing care and filing incident reports

  • Successfully transitioned the program within the Women’s Center to a free-standing center and point of entry for care for community members impacted by violence.

Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS     Program Coordinator/Student Support
Office of Outreach and Sexual Assault Services

  • Secured $300,000 in federal funding for what would soon become the office of Outreach and Sexual Assault Services

  • Managed the office’s victim services program and engaged student input on issues of policy review, diversity, prevention education and curriculum development.

  • Created and maintained campus, local, state, and national partnerships to ensure consistency in the university’s creation of a safe and supportive campus environment for students, faculty and staff
