The Swan Center, led by Founder and Executive Director Wanda Swan, is a Georgia-based nationally-serving 501(C)(3) that works to value the lived experiences and safety of Black folks. Through crisis intervention, community outreach, and innovative research, the Center seeks to build capacity for activism, cultural change, and survivor resiliency. Our mission is to validate narratives, orchestrate holistic healing, and reduce violence within Black communities.

Located in Stockbridge, Georgia, The Swan Center has been a dream of our team for some time. We’ve long wished to create a space for Black survivors of violence, those further marginalized and othered members of our community, to see themselves and their stories as important and deserving of care. With more than 12 years of expertise in crisis response, advocacy, prevention education/community outreach, and systems navigation, we are equipped to provide direct care and community outreach to those in need.

As an all Black-staff of experts active in the anti-oppression movement, we understand that ours is a narrative that is so often disregarded because one cannot begin to address the injustice of Black violence without first naming the various systems in which these experiences are embedded. The Swan Center, through its promotion of awareness-raising programs, service provision training, and Conscious Circles(TM), work to encourage this dialogue as a way to further give visibility and validation to our various experiences with oppression.
